WHAT’S BEHIND THE EFFECTS OF CARB-FREE, CARB-LOADED DIET PLANS

Americans consume more carbohydrates than anything else. Some try increasing the amount of daily carbohydrates in high-carb diet regimes, while others try to curb the amounts by adhering to carb-free diet plans. The problem with both is, most people are unaware that they do not process carbohydrates correctly, and if the proper amounts are not ingested, several problems could arise.

Carbohydrates (and sugars) are broken down by Amylase, an enzyme which is produced naturally by the body. A deficiency in Amylase, makes it difficult for the body to use carbohydrates and sugars. People who are Amylase deficient will notice additional cravings, blood sugar imbalances, excessive fat conversion and mood swings.

And, the sugars and carbohydrates that aren't broken down will be converted into fat. Sugar overloads can also lead to producing fatty acids, increase amounts of sugar in the bloodstream, and impair the flow of oxygen to the brain.

Some warning signs are sugar cravings; feeling "full" or tired after eating foods with carbohydrates (pizza or spaghetti); experience mood swings, depression or PMS; have cold hands or feet; frequent allergies or acne; easily retain water or have problems losing weight.

Craving carbohydrates is a symptom of improper digestion.

Amylase deficiencies have also been linked to hypoglycemia, colon cancer, nervous disorders, depression, anxiety, fatigue, inflammation and weight gain.
